Learning Support

"Pupils with SEND and EAL are very well-supported by learning support staff and make excellent progress."

ISI Inspection Report 2014

We offer comprehensive but sensitive support for pupils with learning difficulties, and the school is determined that these pupils should have full access to the curriculum.

There are six Learning Support (LS) teachers. We also have a visiting Occupational Therapist and a Speech and Language Therapist. Close links are all maintained with many other educational professionals.  All teachers are briefed each term on the individual needs of each boy receiving Learning Support, and they act on the recommendations made by the LS department in planning their lessons.

We take the training of our staff very seriously.  Regular in-service training ensures that all members of staff are up-to-date with the latest pedagogical practice, and suitable and purposeful provision is made for any children with a different style of learning in lessons.

A handwriting clinic operates once a week (at no extra charge) to which children are referred by their tutors or subject teachers.
