THE NEW LODGE CAMPAIGN

The New Lodge Campaign forms a key part of our long-term strategy, reflecting our vision and commitment to ensuring Summer Fields remains one of the finest prep schools, both in the UK and on the international stage.

AN EXCITING AND TRANSFORMATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Situated within the school grounds and nestled in a quiet corner of the school, the new Lodge will replace Cottage which is situated on Mayfield Road.

The new Lodge, which will include nine ensuite rooms for 36 senior boarders and staff accommodation over three floors, is designed with modern educational needs in mind, balancing personal space with communal areas. The ground floor will feature common rooms, quiet study areas and a secluded outdoor courtyard, supporting a well-rounded residential experience that encourages social connection and academic focus. 

The new Lodge is designed by Oxford Architects to reflect the architectural style of many of the recent developments within Oxford's historic university colleges. Summer Fields has worked successfully with Oxford Architects on a number of projects, including, the Mark Shvidler Library, Pre-prep and The Salata Pavilion.   

The carefully designed setting of the new Lodge will enrich our pupils' boarding experience, ensuring they leave Summer Fields well-prepared for their senior schools. Furthermore, the design will help to create a warm, homely atmosphere; one in which we know our pupils will thrive.

BOARDING LIFE AT SUMMER FIELDS 

Summer Fields is very proud of its boarding tradition. The caring, supportive atmosphere at Summer Fields ensures that our boarders feel happy, secure and relaxed. There is a powerful sense of ‘home from home’ and the very fact that many of our pupils and staff and their families live on site enables this ethos to permeate all that we do. 

There are six friendly, family-run boarding houses – Lodges –organised according to age. The boys progress to new Lodges as they move up the school.   

Since 2018, there has been an extensive programme of modernisation and renovation to create spaces which feel like a ‘home from home’.   

At Summer Fields we give our boarders the independence to grow, the support of a warm, close-knit community and friendships that last a lifetime.
