Buzzer is the school shop, selling... well, almost anything! It opens on Wednesday after games for Years 4, 5 and 6 and on Saturday after games for Years 7 and 8, and on other special occasions. There is often quite a queue, especially if there is a particular craze. Each year, Christmas Buzzer generates great excitement, with boarders keen to acquire decorations for their dormitories and all boys looking for festive presents. 

Buzzer was established at Summer Fields many decades ago, not just as a means of entertainment for the boys, but also as a tool to teach the importance of budgeting and managing personal finance (albeit on a small scale).

Any boy receiving a “Golden Ticket” – a certificate for five SUGs (Shown up for Good) for outstanding academic work or three SUGs for outstanding conduct – results in the recipient gaining £5 of credit on their Buzzer account. N.B. this applies for the first Golden Ticket achieved each term; subsequent Golden Ticket certificates are presented in assembly but do not lead to additional credit on a Buzzer account.
