    Duncan Wethey

    Head of Classics

    Teaching and Pastoral

Duncan graduated from Oxford, where he attended Brasenose College. He has taught at a range of senior and preparatory schools. He joined Summer Fields in January 2018 from Cheam School, where he held the positions of Director of Studies and Head of Classics.

In his current role as Head of Classics at Summer Fields, he feels immensely privileged to teach both Latin and Greek to the boys up to Common Entrance or Scholarship level. Summer Fields is notably one of the only schools in the country where every boy in Year Seven is given the chance to study Classical Greek. All boys also study Latin from Year 5 onwards and each year, pupils who achieve scholarships often secure very high marks in their Classics papers.

Duncan thoroughly enjoys coaching sport at school, particularly cricket, which he continues to play outside of school as a regular participant in the Brasenose Strollers and Exeats tours. He has one daughter, who has also joined him on cricket tours.
