Colts D

VII

The Colts D team had a

successful season.

Although suffering a heavy defeat at the

hands of Moulsford in our first match,

the boys maintained a resolute attitude

towards both practice and matches which

was seen to yield great improvements, both

individually and as a team. Training as a

squad with DRW’s Colts C team provided

a regular challenge that enabled the Ds

to develop more rounded football skills

together with resilience under pressure.

As a result in our eight matches over the

season we won four, drew two and lost

only two, making us arguably the most

successful Under 11 football team this year.

These results reflected the overall progress

of the D VII, especially considering that it

was not until the final match of the season

that we tasted defeat again; a strong Cothill

side inspired us to play our best football of

the season and we were perhaps unlucky

to lose. The match that really characterised

the resolve of the team was against Elstree

when, after a long period of gritty defence,

our boys rallied together late in the second

half and scored a goal that even Barcelona

FC would be happy with. This soon brought

a second and the satisfaction of a well-

earned victory. Overall the season was very

enjoyable to be a part of and I encourage

all members of the team to pursue their

football with similar commitment in the

future.

The regular players were:

David Jin Li,

Albert Moores, Freddie Newland, Tom

Eadie, Magnus Taylor, Gabriel Thomas,

Freddie Dooley, MarcusWigwe-Chizundu

and

Cenk Oguz

.

Colts E

& F VII

This merry band all had the

chance to play for the E team

during the season but for their

first match – against Moulsford –

some were required for the FVII.

They were the happy ones on that occasion,

for they tasted victory, thanks to a brace

of goals from

Aidan Saunders

, as the

others found their opposition in top form.

The moment of the season was the closely

contested match against Lambrook where

EdwardWhitbread

bundled in the only

goal to secure a fantastic win. Rarely will a

goal be celebrated with a bigger smile and

boost in confidence! This was followed by

two close defeats, as different combinations

of players were tried, with goal-keeping

duties shared by

Dylan Grafftey-Smith

and

Hansen Han

. The captain,

David Stirling

,

got his name on the score-sheet against

Cothill, but we needed greater penetration

up front.

Others members of the squad were:

Toby

Blanchard, Dave Currie, Max Lee, Joshua

Ooi, Gunnar Saastad, Ned Sekula, Steve

Zhao

and

George Zhou

.
