Under 9

C & D VI

In practice sessions the boys

displayed huge amounts of

energy and effort, which

made them a very satisfying

group to coach.

We focused on the basics of passing,

controlling the ball and shooting and the

boys all really improved during the season.

In total eight nail-biting matches were

played and I had quite lost my voice by the

end. During the term we lost some players

to the B team but gained the benefit and

eagerness of

Isaac Aldred

.

The first set of matches against Cheam

proved to be a rollercoaster, with victory

for the Cs and a narrow defeat for the

Ds. Lambrook Cs proved too strong and

dented our confidence, but our D team

almost held their own, thanks to some

good defence from

Tommy Stonor

,

Jaden Oii

and

Albert Collins

. Further

defeats came at Elstree, but perseverance

was evident, especially from defender

Charlie Whitbread

the partnership

of

Lucas Xiao

and Oscar Wilbraham,

whilst

Ulysses Hu

provided a glimpse

a hope with his stunning goal. The final

two matches for the C team proved

that perseverance certainly pays off. In

the 3-0 win against Ludgrove,

Charles

Marsden

scored twice and then followed

up with a hat-trick against Cothill, when

a 7-0 victory capped off the season in

style.

James Flach

finally found the net

after a fine performance during the term,

but the star for me was

Zailang Zhang

,

who captained the team with quiet

assurance and scored three goals.

My thanks go to Miss Borlay for her

help with coaching and I wish the boys

all the best for their future endeavours.
