BenAllison

– had a great term for the team,

playing in a variety of positions, and often

showed great skill and tenacity.

Oscar Gleason

– our incredibly gutsy keeper

was remarkably courageous with all his saves

and often kept a clean sheet, whilst corralling

the troops into action.

The JCD team also produced a sterling effort

throughout the season and demonstrated the

ability to play unselfishly and with genuine

commitment. In a tough start against Moulsford

they played well as a team and produced a

memorable phase of play, with a series of

accurate passes that allowed

William Barlow

to simply tap the ball across the goal line.

However, the opposition were just too strong

in the end, despite the best efforts of

Blake

Low

and

Joel Balogun

, who covered a lot of

ground in defence and attack.Through real

determination we gave Cheam a bit of a hiding,

which included a well-deserved hat-trick from

Zachary Sam-Alao

. Lambrook were forced

to work hard for their, perhaps fortuitous, win,

thanks to a tireless performance by

Somers

Elworthy

.A disappointing defeat, but we came

back well to record a stunning 10-0 demolition

of Crosfields, with the four-goal

William

Giffard

leading the rampage. In a fast and

physical match against Elstree,

MylesWilliams

saw to it that Elstree would not come close

to scoring, and his clean sheet in goal enabled

us to achieve a fiendish victory.Although our

loss to Ludgrove was disappointing, we never

gave up trying, and

Dima Fitzherbert

was

particularly valiant.

The JCEs played just three matches and were

delighted to finish with a solid victory over

Elstree, which included a hat-trick from the

captain,

Jago Barker

.All the players contributed

keenly, with

Mark MacNaughton

providing a

strong presence and

Nicolas Carcelle

showing

some deft touches.

From the very start, it was

clear that there was going to

be great strength in depth

within the year group.

The boys trained hard during the build-up

to their first match and, most impressively,

listened to advice and instructions. Against

Cheam possession was very equal for much

of the game and the half time score of 0-0

was thanks in part to

Somto Sylvester-

Monye’s

incredible tackling and secure

clearing. Unfortunately, a penalty awarded

to Cheam in the last minute saw them win

the game 1-0. At Lambrook we were a little

dispirited to see a much smaller pitch, and

smaller goals, than we’d been practising

on but again we competed on even terms

for much of the game.

Henry Snow

, our

captain, delivered some exceptional passes

and

Jago Edsberg

had some nail-bitingly

close shots on goal, but some breakaway

runs by their strong attacking player saw

them win the match. It must be noted that

the referee commented that one of the

saves made by our keeper,

Jake Lee

, was

the best he had ever seen at this age. After

two defeats, the boys seemed even more

determined and threw themselves into

training sessions.

The Horris Hill match was unfortunately

very one-sided. Edsberg produced some

amazing shots and scored four goals. In

the second half, after we’d swapped the

team around, defender Sylvester-Monye

also bagged a hat-trick and goalkeeper Lee

came close. It was a much closer affair at
