Colts C,

D & E IX

The whole season, for the

Colts C and D squad was

affected by illness and injury

to a succession of players.

The result of these medical interventions

was an uncertainty in team selection (often

continuing until beyond break time on the

morning of the match).

Virtually every match day

the boys accepted, usually

with good humour, that

they might be playing in

either C or D fixtures (if

on games) and that

this might involve

a late change from

home match to away (or

vice versa

). Promotion and

demotion between teams

was not generally dictated

by performance, or form,

but by availability.The result

was that most members of the

squad represented both C and D

(and even, on one occasion, E)

teams during the term.

Whilst all this change was

probably not good for continuity, it did

provide lots of opportunities for boys to

shine in their own ways. Despite losing every

game, the D team fought hard and never

gave up. The C team were

more effective, playing in a

number of close contests

and recording a couple

of good victories against

Lambrook and Elstree.

Those who ran hard with

the ball, and were difficult to stop,

were led by

Koko Momodu

,

David Stirling

and

MarcusWigwe-Chizundu

.Those who

exhibited pace with the ball and mazy running

included

Tom Eadie

,

DoronAkinyanju

,

Louis

Lord

and

Freddie Dooley

.The tough tackles

came from

Savva Grevtsev, Ned Sekula,

Aidan Saunders

and

Gunnar Saastad

.

There were several boys who showed real

improvement, led by

EdwardWhitbread

,

Cenk Oguz

and

Alex Chandler

. Last, but

certainly not least, the leadership, organisation

and ability to do all of the above shown by

David Jin Li should be commended.

The team had a small, hardy, and dedicated

team of parental supporters who followed

them everywhere (and often changed venue

at short notice) – their encouragement,

patience and support were much appreciated.
