The Game 3mantra of FHB
(Fitness,Handling and Brains)
proved a winning one and all
the boys genuinely enjoyed and
benefited fromour training
sessions, our superb victories and
even our singular defeat:what
more can a coach hope for!
We were able to field a keen side, consisting
mainly of Removes for a change. It was
heartening to be able to introduce boys
previously unconvinced about the idea of
rugby to the fact that they can do it and
can do it very well: indeed, several players
had never even seen a game of rugby
before. There was a certain amount of squad
rotation during the season, as we reshuffled
(and sometimes reduced) the team,
according to opposition requests – usually
as a result of illness or injury, but sometimes
in order to try to engineer a balanced game.
Two matches were cancelled (the first and
last ones on our fixture list) and so our first
outing was against Cheam 3rds, who were
too strong for us. However, we followed
this with four fine victories in which we
scored a total of 25 tries: seven were from
the powerful
Nassir Al Saud
, whilst
Xan
Crasneanscki
contributed five. The latter
will of course be here next season and
staking his claim for a place on 1st Game, no
doubt, as will our captain,
Rigby Swarovski
Adams
, whose place-kicking was impressive.
