coherent or clear calling, was our undoing,
and our 36 was no match for their 160.
However, seeds of promise were there to be
seen in the early matches.
Jackson Amies
showed a decent line and length,
Albert
Moores
and
Freddie Dooley
looked good
with the bat and
Oscar Gleason
behind
the stumps had a safe pair of hands. All
we really lacked was the ability to score
runs. Concerted practice in clear calling
and efficient running paid dividends in the
second half of term. More respectable totals
of 134 v Elstree, 137 v Cothill and 103 v
Dragon reflected our ability much better,
and our opponents were made to work
much harder against us. Added to this, our
bowlers found their form.
Yan Kolpakov
(left arm spinner) was the most dangerous,
while
Tom Eadie
and Ngong emerged as
dangerous pacemen.
But there is no hiding the fact that the
results did not go our way, and there is
more to be done next year in a number of
areas. However, the team came on a lot,
and have much to be proud of. They played
well together, encouraging and supporting
one another. They learned how to steal runs.
They learned how to put pressure on the
opposition with tight fielding. And everyone
learned to treat those two imposters –
Victory and Defeat – just the same.
Others who played for the team were:
Freddie Newland, MarcusWigwe-
Chizundu, David Jin-Li
and
Henry Kendall
.

Colts C
& D XI
It was a tough season for
both the Colts C and D teams.
However, there were some
excellent performances
within these games:
Cenk Oguz’s
excellent batting display
against Ludgrove, a confident 22 from
David Stirling
against Elstree, some
superb fielding by
Steve Zhao
leading
to a run out in the Caldicott match and
a superb wicket by
Doron Akinyanju
against Caldicott.With dedicated
practice and a little more fortune on
their side, I’m sure that next season will
prove a little more fruitful.
