Buzzer

Buzzer is the school shop, selling anything from noisy toys that drive Lodgeparents mad, to stationery that keeps teachers and Form Masters happy. It opens on Wednesday after games for Years 4, 5 and 6 and on Saturday after games for Years 7 and 8, and on other special occasions. There is often quite a queue, especially if there is a particular craze. This term there are tubes of tennis balls and coloured table tennis balls for sale, as well as buzzing magnets, mini remote-control cars and Lego mini-figures.

Buzzer was established at Summer Fields many decades ago, not just as a means of entertainment for the boys, but also as a tool to teach the importance of budgeting and managing personal finance (albeit on a small scale!). From 2016, any boy receiving a “Golden Ticket” for outstanding academic work will receive a £5 credit in Buzzer.
