Day Boys
Although predominantly a full-boarding school, Summer Fields has always had a handful of Day Boys. Summer Fields’ day pupils benefit from the breadth of education and facilities that a boarding environment can offer. Day Boys are an important part of our community and take part in the same academic, sporting and extra-curricular activities as boarders do, including Saturday classes and sporting commitments.
A strength of the Summer Fields’ multi-tiered pastoral system is that every boy has a Tutor who is responsible for overseeing his academic and personal well-being at school. Where boarders have Lodgeparents, Mrs Jane Bishop is the designated staff liaison for Day Boys and their families. Mrs Bishop regularly updates the Day Boy noticeboard and is always happy to answer any queries.
In 2006, Summer Fields established the Mynors class for seven-year-old Day Boys so that parents could start their son’s Summer Fields education at an earlier stage in their development.
