The Admissions Process

The brief outline below aims to clarify what prospective parents can expect during the admissions process at Summer Fields. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Registrar, Mrs Christine Berry, on 01865 459204 or via email at admissions@summerfields.com.

Initial enquiry

Families start by requesting a prospectus and DVD from our Registrar either via the website request form, via email at admissions@summerfields.com or by phone on 01865 459204. These will be sent together with a registration form enclosed.

Registration

Prospective families are able to register their son at any point from birth and are asked to return their completed registration form with the £50 Registration Fee. You will then be added to our mailing list to receive the Summer Fields newsletter and invitations to prospective family events.

Open Mornings

Registered pupils and their families will receive an invitation to attend any of our two Open Mornings per year. We recommend that families visit Summer Fields on more than one occasion to get a full picture of life at Summer Fields. We also welcome prospective parents considering registering their son.

Any families wishing to attend are asked to contact the Registrar.

Two years before entry

When your son is approximately six-years-old, parents are invited to make an appointment to visit the School again and to meet the Headmaster on a one-to one basis.

One year before entry

Families are invited to an entry-specific Open Day where the boys have a chance to attend classes and activities, while parents meet the staff, visit the Lodges and see the school in depth. Prospective families are asked to confirm their son’s place by mid-October. Once confirmed, a report will be requested from the pupil’s present school.

January

Boys will come to Summer Fields to sit the Entry Assessment. The Entry Assessment is not a 'Test' and it is not a matter of 'Pass' or 'Fail'. The objective is to ensure that future Summerfieldians will be able to cope with our academic programme.

February

The Headmaster contacts each family to offer a place and families are asked to confirm their acceptance of the place.

March – August

Future Summerfieldians and their families are invited to attend Sports Day in June to meet other Summer Fields families. We will stay in touch throughout the summer to help you and your son prepare for his arrival at Summer Fields.

September

We officially welcome you and your son to the Summer Fields community!
