It’s great to be a MYNOR at Summer Fields!
The Mynors class for 7+ day boys was established at Summer Fields in September 2006 to offer an earlier start for families who want their son to benefit from a Summer Fields education as soon as possible. The class is named after the Mynors family who were a prominent Summer Fields lineage, seven of whom were educated at the School between 1914 and 1954.
A seven-year-old at Summer Fields is exposed to a breadth of education both inside and outside of the classroom that only a full-boarding school can offer. The Mynors are well integrated into the life of the School with the benefit of going home at the end of the day.
We encourage the youngest boys to be involved in everything that is on offer and to strive for the highest standard possible. Academically speaking, Summer Fields caters for the high-flier as well as the boy who may require additional support, but we pursue academic excellence at every level. There is much emphasis on reading, writing and arithmetic, all of which are taught by the Mynors Form Mistress and supported by a teaching assistant. In addition, Summer Fields has a great deal to offer in Music, Art, Design and Technology, Sport and Drama.
Boys arrive each morning, Monday through Friday at 8am (there are no classes for Mynors on Saturday). Lessons take place from 8.35am and finish at 4pm. We offer a variety of activities and clubs after school each day and a later pick-up can be easily accommodated.
Mynors have the choice of remaining a day boy throughout their time at Summer Fields or, providing at least a term’s notice is given and that there is a bed available, boys can become a boarder at any stage of their Summer Fields career.
