Upper House - Year 6 & 7

At a glance

Year group in Lodge: Year 6 & 7

Lodgeparents: Ben and Hannah Hudson

Assistant Lodgeparent: Pandy Stoop

Gapper Matron: Layla O'Reilly

Upper House style: Continents of the world.

Hidden at the top of the main school building, Upper House boasts the best views in the school over the home fields. From sunrise to snowy mornings, the boys love looking out across the grounds from their dorms.

The lodge was renovated over the summer of 2021 and each dorm has colourful wall art, brightly themed on the different continents. Each bed space has room for the boarders to personalise with cuddly toys, lego and photos to make it feel homely. The dorms are spacious and light, and there is a comfy snug area for the boys to gather in the evening too. One of the benefits of being within the school building is that the boys are also guaranteed a speedy and dry trip to breakfast, whatever the weather in the morning!

In the evenings, there are regular activities such as card games and film nights, as well as snacks ranging from pain au chocolat to hot sausage rolls. This gives all the boys in the lodge a chance to catch up with each other and wind down from the school day before bed. On a Sunday morning, there is a slower start to the day as the boys wake up a bit later and gradually drift through to the snug.

Run by Lodgeparents Ben and Hannah Hudson who live there with their young sons and boarder collie Baloo, Upper House has a friendly and homely atmosphere, whilst always bustling with excitement and fun.
